Peran Keluarga dalam Pencegahan Rheumatoid Arthritis (Ra) pada Lansia (50-65 Tahun)

Background: The role of a good family increases the health status of the elderly and can reduce complaints among the elderly in the prevention of Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) through the family's attitude in caring for family members by recognizing the early signs and symptoms that occur. Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) is a disease that attacks the joints caused by decreased body immunity (degeneration or aging process). The aim of this research is to understand the role of families in the prevention of Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) in the elderly (50-65 years) in Sumberbendo Village, Pare District, Kediri Regency.
Methods: Descriptive research design, population of 275 respondents with a sample size of 55 respondents using purposive sampling technique, research instrument utilizing questionnaires, and the study was conducted from April 14 to April 28, 2025. The single variable is the role of the family in the prevention of Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA). Data were analyzed using percentages and interpreted using descriptive techniques.
Results: The results of the study involving 55 respondents showed that most respondents have a good role (56%) and a small portion have an adequate family role (25%) and a poor family role (19%) in the prevention of Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) in elderly individuals aged 50-65 years, influenced by several factors including gender, age, education, relationships with family, sources of information, and the number of elderly individuals living in one household.
Conclusion: It is hoped that families are able to adopt a healthy lifestyle by managing their diet, exercising, and avoiding stress. To increase knowledge by seeking information. Improvement in health services by health institutions regarding the role of families in the prevention of Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) so that families can provide good and maximum care.
